A Note from our new Faith Formation Coordinator
Hello, my name is Sandi (Thoma) Dhein and I want to introduce myself as the new Faith Formation Coordinator for St. Lawrence & Resurrection Parishes.
While my husband Brian and I both grew up in Slinger and have been lifelong members of St. Peter Parish, we have ties to all 3 parishes.
My great-great-grandparents, Gerhard and Julia (Farber) Weninger were the first marriage solemnized at St. Lawrence Church in 1882. Brian’s grandparents, Raymond and Bertha Montag were members and raised their 15 children across the street from the church in St. Lawrence and Brian’s parents, Marion and Glenn Dhein, were married there.
My great-grandparents, Joseph P and Anna Weninger were members of Resurrection Parish (then Sacred Heart). They had 3 children: Blanche (Weninger) Halbherr, my grandmother, was the first person baptized at Sacred Heart Church in 1918. Patricia Weninger became a religious sister with the Sisters of St. Francis. Ronald Weninger (called Jim) was ordained a Redemptorist priest, performed his first mass at Sacred Heart and was a missionary in Brazil for 50 years (called Padres Marcos).
Brian and I have 2 grown children. Katlyn is an Alcohol & Other Drug Abuse Counselor in Madison and Nicholas is currently studying at St. Francis de Sales Seminary. God willing he will be ordained a priest in 2023.
I have grown tremendously in my faith in the past few years. I feel privileged to have the opportunity to serve God in our parishes. I look forward to spending more time at both parishes, getting to know you and allowing Jesus and the Holy Spirit to work thru me to build relationships with all of you, at any age.
Please feel free to stop me and say hello.
